If there’s one thing that is constant through my style, it’s creating romantic moments through the clothes I wear and in the way I dress my home. We purchased this vintage tiered garden stand at an antique market years ago, with plans to cleverly use it as a “bookcase” of sorts. Since it already had a lovely garden-like quality to it, I knew that whatever I chose to fill it with, would have be inspirational, beautiful, and full of interest.
Over time, it has grown to be one of my favorite corners to style because I can freely change out the decor regularly, sparking new inspiration for me through each season. It’s quite feminine, so it naturally holds pretty bits and bobs and acts as the perfect place to show off my ootd’s on Instagram, as well as a cute little spot for our cat to watch the squirrels run by.
Since this piece is quite special to me, I wanted to dedicate today’s post to sharing simple ways to add pretty details throughout your home abode. Much of my tips include items you already own, with a few others that are easy to score during your next shopping trip. Keep reading below to get all the details:
Firstly, if you can find a vintage gem that can act as an indoor furniture piece, then I say: haul it in your car and make it your own! I tend to lean towards garden furniture made of wrought iron for the scroll detail and it so effortlessly adds the feeling of a French garden in your home. So, whether it’s meant for function or fashion, it’s still worth the buy! Now, onward to the items …
- Add a Vase with Pretty Details: Vases are something I love adding around the house, as they serve as an anchor for precious flowers. They make an excellent centerpiece for the coffee and dining tables, and look beautiful on an entry console. I like shopping at Home Goods or decor shops online, for vases of all kinds, as well as ceramic containers that do the trick as well.
- Incorporate Natural Textures: I preach about this often, but I love the feel that wovens (such as seagrass and wicker) provide in a home. I just about have something woven in every room, even if it’s a storage basket for blankets. As an added tip: I like to take a couple of my woven handbags and display them in a bookcase or make them a part of other vignettes around my home, when they’re currently not in use.
- Add Richness with Gold: Gold happens to be one of my top accent colors to work with, along with black and navy. It’s rich and sophisticated, and adds warmth to neutrals spaces. Try working this metal into things like a gilded mirror or gold frames; vintage candle sticks and decorative bowls. Consider re-purposing older items using antique brass spray paint or gold leaf, that can be found at your local craft store. Thrift shops like Goodwill, is also an excellent resource for finding candle sticks, small bowls, trays, and frames.
- Display your Jewelry in a Beautiful Way: Just as simple as it is to display my woven handbags, I like to display pieces of jewelry in thoughtful places here and there. I like using little plates or trays to drop my earrings and bracelets in, and this makes it very easy for me to grab them and go on my way out. Don’t forget your perfume bottles too, when they’re all done or not in use. They add beauty to your space as well.
- Marble is Marvelous: Marble is one of the oldest natural stones and has been associated with elegance and luxury. This is definitely a decor item I highly recommend incorporating where you can. A coffee table, accent table, book ends or a tray for displaying your everyday items, it instantly adds elegant perfection to your home.
Take a peek at all the pretty trinkets you already own, using interesting antiques and fashion to add style to your home. And for the other items you need to search for … all of it is nearly offered at affordable price points, which makes it much easier to add beautiful touches to our spaces.
