Moisturizing and lightweight, cooling with a tropical summer scent, are all the things I look for in skincare during the Summer months. Yummy coconut and citrus scents have me reeled in, like this body butter that I love wearing every Summer! It takes me back to times at the beach, which I hope to spend time at this week. Tomorrow, I’ll finally be vacationing for a week in my home state, California, a time my whole family has been needing, both here and there.
This season I decided to simplify my skincare routine, sticking to a few products that are packed with good for you ingredients. I generally have normal to combination skin, but it’s swayed more to drier times from hanging out in the sun and not drinking much water. I really gotta work on that and maybe hold back on my avocado smoothie fix! Hmm, something to think about.
Most of these skincare goodies are clean with natural and handmade ingredients: no parabens, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, and synthethic fragrances. All long term benefits for your skin. I look forward to my morning and nightly routine much more and my skin feels pampered, especially as I’m winding down before bed.
PRODUCTS FOR THE FACE
- Depending on the day, my makeup routine can be pretty simple … SPF with a dash of eyeliner and mascara. To remove my eye makeup at the end of the day, I like to use the Green Clean makeup cleansing balm by Farmacy. I absolutely adore the smell of this product – it’s so Summery! The balm consists of silky oils that gently removes all of my makeup with a breeze and your skins feels nourished and ready to move onto cleanser.
- Since I’ve been doing a lot of gardening this past month, I feel like gentle exfoliating is a must at least every other day. I’ve been using Aveeno’s skin brightening daily scrub and I love how this creamy blend with mini granules keeps my skin smooth, clear, and well moisturized. It’s hypo-allergic, perfect for sensitive skin.
- Another exfoliate I like to use 2-3 times a week is the Facial Radiant Pads by First Aid Beauty. With a sweep across my face and down my neck, it helps to take away any impurities left on my skin. And because it has glycolic and Lactic Acids, it gently exfoliates while promoting radiant skin.
- I’ve stowed away my Sunday Riley serums for now and adding the Vitamin C Serum by Ole Henriksen into my routine to brighten and promote youthful looking skin. Your complexion can look tired from all the sun exposure, but this one really makes you look vibrant with a healthy glow all summer long. It’s in my beauty bag every year and I love taking it with me when I travel home to California.
- Once my face is feeling refreshed & prepped, I move onto the favorite part of my nightly routine …. my moisturizer! The Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet by Caudalie is a non-negotiable because it does a fantastic job at pampering my skin. This is the 3rd Summer I’ve used this moisturizer: it’s cooling and whipped goodness in my opinion. As soon as I massage this into my skin (using an upward motion), it instantly feels calm and supple, as if it had a huge drink of water. It too is perfect for sensitive skin and helps to reduce redness. For moisturizer during the day, I use my favorite SPF Tinted moisturizer by Juice Beauty – a great base for makeup.
- This eye cream from Origins has been the best, since I first started using it in the Spring. It’s brightening and oh so moisturizing under the eyes, another great base before makeup. After concealer, my under-eye area looks hydrated and all looks seamless and smooth. Surely, a highly recommend product!
FOR TOUCH-UPS
- I recently chatted about a lip balm on my InstaStories, which is the Agave Lip Balm from Bite Beauty. I love, love, love this lip balm and how well it nourishes my lips. It’s levels up from your typical chapstick and it also provides you with a slight shine to your lips … perfect to wear alone or as a base for lipstick. It’s affordable at $14 and the tube lasts months.
- For an instant pick me up mid-day or even as a setting spray for makeup, Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir is a must try. I like to spritz this all over my face to instantly add a sun-kissed glow to my complexion. It also does a perfect job at tightening the pores around my nose area. There is a slight minty fragrance that dissipates, but if fragrance is not what you fancy, then try Caudalie’s Grape Water. It’s fragrance free and provides a boost of hydration when you need it.
I hope you’re all enjoying the last bits of summer and have a great week! xo
